The Status Quo of Prefabricated Housing: An investigation into New Zealand Construction Sector

Abstract The increase of population in large cities New Zealand (NZ), propelled by the massive number immigrants after COVID, has caused a shortage housing supply. Prefabrication been advocated as potential solution to this problem. Its uptake NZ is relatively low despite its benefits. So, building capacity and more capability are essential for prefabricated (PH) supply chain (SC) identifying obstacles proposing methods tackle them. This research aims assess map SC projects (PHP) NZ. investigations include key industries, trades skills construction system. For purpose, comprehensive analytical approach followed, integrating bibliometric search qualitative discussion: 1) recent PH keywords, pros&cons; identify factors limited sector deliver requirements 2) study gaps 3) directions future. Results show lower prefabrication through knowledge, negative perception, skill shortage, cost finance, lack coordination communication, site operations, design alteration respond site. Consequently, various influential hindering were discussed, parties involved was performed.
